Orioles call up Gibson to face Yankees

The Orioles will activate top pitching prospect Trey Gibson to start against the Yankees on Sunday, as confirmed by manager Craig Albernaz.

The 23-year-old right-hander, ranked Baltimore's No. 3 prospect by MLB.com, will face Max Fried of the Yankees. Gibson was called up from Triple-A Norfolk where he has a 4.01 ERA in six starts with 25 strikeouts.

The move comes as the Orioles deal with injuries to multiple starting pitchers including Trevor Rogers, Dean Kremer and Zach Eflin. Gibson joins the team's taxi squad of minor leaguers traveling with the major-league club. raccoongame.org
